Are you ready for the holidays?

Happy ThanksgivingHave you planned your Thanksgiving dinner?  You may be cooking the meal or going to somebody else’s house to “over eat”!  Some of you have planned trips during Thanksgiving or Christmas, and some of you are having a house full of company and overnight guests.

There is one thing I have observed over the years.  When we let ourselves get too caught up in being the “perfect hostess” and worrying over everything being “just right” then we are so stressed by the time everyone gets there we can’t enjoy ourselves!  We make our guests uncomfortable also.  It’s fine to set a pretty table, but if you are so afraid that your china or crystal may get broken, then DON’T use it!  Your food will taste just as good on your everyday dishes!  If you are horrified that your grandmothers lace tablecloth might get stained, then use a different one with a pretty flower arrangement.  Your guests want to feel comfortable in your home.  They want to be free to roam around and mingle and you should be out there with them visiting and laughing and not stressing over your china and silver.

So, my opinion is that whether we use china, plastic, or paper plates we are all gathered for one reason:  To give thanks for all that we have whether it is a lot or a little and remember that there is nothing more important than family and friends!

Hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving!

Well, IF I had someone to make my pie crust…

Do you remember when you told me I couldn’t put an arrangement of real flowers on a plastic tablecloth for Brian’s and Melissa’s rehearsal dinner, and I said, “Watch me.” ???? LOL
