Lookin’ Good!

Do you still feel pretty?  Does your age make you think that it doesn’t matter much anymore?  Well, let me tell you, it will always matter to a woman!

While it is true that our looks have changed as we get older, we can still look pretty and feel pretty with just a little bit of effort!  You don’t have to have the face and body of a twenty year old, so don’t compare yourself to them.  Instead, embrace the beautiful features that you still have and enhance them!

Find a good moisturizing make-up that matches your skin color, a great eye shadow that brings out the color of your eyes, and a lipstick that is not too dark or a lip gloss.  Never leave the house without them!  Give yourself an extra 30 min. to get ready, even if you are just going to run to the store.  You will feel so much better!  It’s all about feeing good about yourself now and not about what other people think.

The lady that lives next door to me is in her late 80’s.  Every morning when I see her she has her make-up on, her hair done, and is beautifully dressed with her jewelry and all.  She must get up at the crack of dawn to get all of this done by 8:00 a.m.!  But what an inspiration she is to us older women!

I would love to hear some of your beauty secrets, so please comment!  My next post will be about fashion for older women, I hope you will join me!

In the meantime, keep “Lookin’ Good”!

Ahem! I can put myself together in 27 min. flat–includes hair, teeth, face, clothes, and bed-making. I know because I timed myself once or twice when I was still working. I shower at night and also lay out my clothes for the next day. Now, I don’t know how glamorous I look(ed), but at least I am/was together. I know, I know, I always forget the lipstick…but usually I remember these days as I’m sitting on the drive buckling my seat belt and making sure the garage door goes down! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I just found your blog or what your article was & I am interested – I am 75 yrs old a retired woman – I still have people comment on how young I look – I don’t think & feel & look young but I want to be known as aging gracefully – not as an old hag – I have let my hair go gray & find that my complexion now seems to be yellow to me – I am trying to find proper makeup & have not been successful – I always had blond hair colouring my eyes are hazel & as I said I was fair complextion but with an olive complexion just want to look ok but not over madeup please help

    • Pat, I am so happy you found my blog! Welcome! I believe as long as we are interested in how we look, then we can look good at any age! I am no beauty expert, but after trying so many makeups, etc. I have found that you don’t need expensive products to look good. I have a tube of “Smart Cover” concealing cream, and you only need a tiny bit to cover dark spots or flaws. I use Maybelline Instant Age Rewind liquid makeup in a pure beige shade. Be sure to blend well and get a shade that matches your skin tone. Pretty rose colored blush, and don’t use colored eyeshadow! Stick with neutral colors, grey, brown, nothing bright and no frosts! Use a light brown pencil on your eyebrows and liner and rose colored lipstick. Please NO RED! The only time to use black is on mascara, but dark brown for you would work well. Please let me know if this helps you! This is simply my idea that I think would look really good for you!
